Time flies...

when I'm having fun and creating new designs! I've been super busy the last few months working on all kinds of secret projects. I'm almost done stitching a large Mystery design that will soon be available as an online class. This is my fifth Mystery design (you can see the others here) and I think it's my favorite! I used colors I personally love (turquoises, purples, and limes) to stitch my original and have created additional colorways so there's something for everyone. I'm also working on a couple of new teaching pieces and I always have a new Color Delights on stretcher bars for times when I have to sit and wait somewhere.

At the printer now is Ripple Rotation 2 - here's how it started...with this small design. I used an "Earthtone" palette of overdyed Vineyard Silks from ThreadworX. Although I love love the bright colors, this is a great time of year to stitch with these "warm" colors.

Here's how I stitched it and wrote the pattern for it...

And, here are a few options for stitching variations. It's so interesting to see how different the same pattern can look, depending on placement and rotations! Just posting these makes me want to start working on another!

The patterns are at the printer and I hope to have them here next week. You may pre-order patterns and kits. Orders for kits will be shipped in the order they are received.

Until next time (it won't be so long!!),
Kathy

  1. Fascinating! You could just get caught up in trying out different arrangements and never get around to stitching it

2020 Mystery

It's official - registration is open for my 2020 Mystery - Banded by Bargello! You can get all the details here . I used Planet Earth silks and Pepper Pot for the first time in this project. The silk is a bit thick for 18ct which made it perfect for bargello with excellent coverage. I loved the Pepper Pot so expect to see it in future projects. I also used overdyed threads from ThreadworX - pearl cotton, floss, Vineyard Silk, and metallic braid. Here's a photo of the threads I used and a couple of snippets of my stitched piece. Using all the ThreadworX was like reconnecting with an old friend - I used quite a variety! I had a great time choosing the alternate colorways - I was in one of my favorite shops, Elegant Stitch , surrounded by walls and drawers of threads. Of course, while I was there, I chose threads for a few future projects! Here are photos of the four alternate colorways - I may have to use one of them for a new design! Earthtones is based on R...

New Color Delights

Along with Boo Logs, I will be releasing a new Color Delights .  I used Kelp Watercolours and Waterlilies both so am calling this one Kelp. The photo is a little crooked as part of the border got cut off when I edited it... This is the 45th in the Color Delights series. I never dreamed when this series started that I would do this many! Believe it or not, in the beginning it was a monthly club for one year. After a year though, there were still so many colors I wanted to do, it continued. I still really enjoy doing these small pieces and always have one going with me when I travel - they're a perfect little size to tuck in my carry-on!    I've never done a give-away on my blog so this will be the first! Leave a comment with a color suggestion for a future Color Delights and I'll choose a winner (by random number generator) after the weekend on Monday. The winner will get a new Color Delights - Kelp pattern.   Good Luck! Kathy

New website design

I'm thrilled to announce and introduce my new website. It's been live for a week or so. You can find it at the old address of www.needledelights.com - it has a completely new look and is easy to navigate. You can subscribe on the website and then will receive regular email newsletters from me. I'll also be blogging from the website as soon as I complete some training so this blog will be closing down. I'm starting to make kits for this year's Mystery - I ordered some extra threads to make a few additional kits so if you missed the signup and are still interested, email me. Class starts February 14th. You can see all the details  here . I'm working on exciting new designs to release at Nashville in March. Here's the beginning of a larger design I'm calling Gypsy. I loved working with the rich jewel tone colors and the design has a Bohemian feel. I can't wait to show you the rest of it when I officially announce my Nashville releases! I'l...
