Goodbye to 2016...

Happy Holidays - 2017 is upon us and I'm happy to have this whole week between Christmas and New Year's to bring in 2017. To thank you for a fabulous 2016, I'm having a Year End Sale. To celebrate the 2017 New Year, all kits in stock are 17% off. Enter the coupon code "2017NDO" in the checkout section of the website's Catalog .   To my shopowner friends: email me if you'd like to place a sale order for charts...   In the months and months since I last blogged, I logged quite a few miles and taught a number of classes from coast to coast. My calendar is full for 2017 and I'll be posting my schedule soon. I'm looking forward to meeting more of you as I travel around the country.    Next year's Mystery design is almost complete and I can't wait to share all the details (except what it looks like of course!) with you. Here's a tiny peek - the official registration announcement will be mid January. I've enjoyed creating th

It's August - time for new releases!

I cannot believe it is already August - the summer is flying so fast! I'm staying almost too  busy these days but still trying to squeeze in some stitching & designing. I do have four new designs which will be released next week. Shops may pre-order now or order through the online show from Norden which starts August 8th. If you don't have a LNS, you can get them here . First up are two of my four Elements - these were exclusive to Tomorrow's Heirlooms but now their Club is complete so I can release them to all.  They finish at 5.25x5.25 and also look great if they are done as a four way design with this being one quarter. The first is Earth.  and this is Water: The other two (Fire & Air) will be released in the Spring.  Next is Turquoise Trail - I was inspired by one of the colorways in my Curios Mystery and designed this piece - it was really fun and I'm looking forward to maybe doing another southwest inspired design. This goes into my Destination

A new online class...Mint Julep

Registration is open for my new online class, Mint Julep. It closes July 29th so I can get all the supplies ordered to start class September 1st. I fook forward to another great class! This monochromatic design incorporate s a lot of different textured threads and a lot of unusual stitch combinations - it's fun to stitch! The ph oto doesn't show all the sparkle and texture.  You can s ee all the colorways and registration info at  https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/46618682/SNS%20Mint%20Julep-2016.pdf   Here's my original piece - I wanted a soft soothing design and chose a variety of mint greens with touches of seafoam and other greens. As usual, I developed a few other colorways. I've included photos of finished pieces from several students.   The other colorways are:  Melon   Neutral Blues     Lavenders  When I taught it in person, several people asked me about doing dark instead of light borders for some of the al

the winner is....

True Random Number Generator Min:   Max: Result: 28   According to the random number generator,  #28 is the winner! Congratulation to Ruth-Anne Cain   She'll get one of the first Color Delights - Kelp patterns when it is released next week! Thanks to all who commented - I've added some notes to "Inspiration/Idea Book"!  Until next time,  Happy Stitching! Kathy

New Color Delights

Along with Boo Logs, I will be releasing a new Color Delights .  I used Kelp Watercolours and Waterlilies both so am calling this one Kelp. The photo is a little crooked as part of the border got cut off when I edited it... This is the 45th in the Color Delights series. I never dreamed when this series started that I would do this many! Believe it or not, in the beginning it was a monthly club for one year. After a year though, there were still so many colors I wanted to do, it continued. I still really enjoy doing these small pieces and always have one going with me when I travel - they're a perfect little size to tuck in my carry-on!    I've never done a give-away on my blog so this will be the first! Leave a comment with a color suggestion for a future Color Delights and I'll choose a winner (by random number generator) after the weekend on Monday. The winner will get a new Color Delights - Kelp pattern.   Good Luck! Kathy

Summer Stitching...

I'm enjoying the summer and having some time to design and stitch! I've just sent the long awaited Boo (Halloween) Logs to the printer after taking the final stitches on Sunday. Shops can pre-order now or if you don't have a local shop, you can get it here . Like the other "Logs" designs, Boo Logs is worked entirely with Watercolours and two Kreinik #12 braids. I was so happy when Caron Collection introduced "Coal" with the last new Watercolours - it was the perfect border for this piece! I took my niece up to North Carolina last week for a little vacation and for her to attend classes at the John Campbell Folk Art School. I have to admit I was a bit jealous dropping her off every morning for "camp" - she had a great time and made paper crafts, painted, sewed, blazed a trail, and more I can't even remember! We managed to sneak in some quilting - she's 8 and I taught her to use Grandma's iron & sewing machine. She picked out

Last call for Mystery registration!

Yesterday was the registration deadline for my Curios Mystery Class and above is one last peek at part of Lesson One. I'll take registrations today and up to 5pm central time tomorrow (Sunday) as I'm working on the orders I'll place Monday. If you've missed it, here  is where I blogged originally. There are photos of the colorways with my comments. Here's a link to the  Registration Details . I'll be glad to get these orders placed and behind me - I leave Thursday for the Nashville wholesale show. It's great fun but lots of work getting ready. I don't really enjoy long car trips so I know I'm working too much when I look forward to the 8 hour drive on Thursday! If you've missed my new designs to be released next weekend, you can see them on my website.   Hope you're all stitching! Kathy

New Delights!

In addition to Sudoku Delight & Poppers, I will be releasing two more patterns at the Nashville market. First up is the new Color Delights - it's Eggplant! The photo doesn't show the richness of the color or the texture of the threads. I used Petite Very Velvet as the darkest color and the Watercolour is Aubergine - isn't that appropriate?! I love purple so it is definitely my newest favorite of the Color Delights! I'm introducing a new series of designs called Holiday Delights - these will be six by six finished size and great for box tops, pillow inserts, stand-up cubes, or whatever other creative things people are sure to come up with. The first is Independence Day. I've been on a roll with this fun combination of patriotic colors - they're just such fun to work with and the ideas just keep coming! I'm excited about this new series and looking forward to working on the next one! Leave me a comment if you want to request a holiday for me!

Poppers!

Poppers is a bright, fun to stitch project with 192 little squares. Although the layout is the same as Tidbits, all of the square patterns are different. I just love creating small designs and then putting them together like patchwork! The pattern will be released at the Nashville market.

New for Nashville..

I'm done stitching and almost done writing instructions for my Nashville releases - this is the earliest I've ever been ready for a tradeshow and it feels wonderful! One of my new releases will be Sudoku Delight - this was a class I taught a few years ago and I've had a lot of requests for this pattern. In addition to my original colorway, eight other colorways are listed. This is my Original and the main thread is called Peacock. Most of the colorway names are based on the Rainbow Gallery Bravo overdyed threa d which was the i nspiration for each colorwa y.   This is "Caramels" This is Caravan #1 (it'd be a great companion to Starstuck's Glowing Embers!)   I've seen photos of the other colorways stitched but can't find them right now so will show you the threads for the others. Caravan #2 Lagoon Preserves   Blues & Golds Paprika Waterfall Found the photos! I wrote this post yesterday and have sin

Curios...a Mystery Class

Registration is officially open for this year's online Curios Mystery Class . It's through Shining Needle Society - if you're not a member of SNS, you can join for free at Shining Needle Society.   Above is a tiny part of my stitching - Waffles and Pinwheels, two of my favorite stitches! You don't have to be a member to register for class - we can take care of getting you signed up for membership along with your registration -- just be sure to let me know you're "new"! I appreciate the people who've already registered - I can tell you the Mountain Haze and Turquoise Trail colorways are running neck and neck, followed closely by Prickly Pear. Along with Kelsch, the new Watercolours are very popular! Because of the numbers and all my travel in the next couple of months, I'll be ordering threads in "batches" to make kits ahead of time - I'll be shipping kits in the order people sign up so don't wait til the last minute, especia
