Happy Spring!

We're going to just ignore the fact I haven't blogged in forever...

Here's a photo of my Spring Logs made into a pillow by my fabulous finisher mother!

It was a hit at the Nashville show and my donated canvas was won by Village Sampler in St Albans, West Virginia. I was thrilled to have Pat win it and know it went to a good home! Here I am presenting it to her after the drawings were over.

While I was in Nashville for the tradeshow, I had the opportunity to teach "Sherwood Garden" at Nasvhille Needleworks - Lisa & Emily were great to me and my students were really great! Here they are at the end of class! It was odd to be teaching in someone's shop other than mine but I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to doing it again!

I had a great time in Nashville - I've been home for a month and other than getting ready to teach a class online later this month, I've been sewing & quilting. I made a trip up to North Carolina where my mom and another friend and I had our own little "Retreat". We made the drive to Atlanta one day to do the quilt shop hop and spent three more days sewing. This was my chance to really have a block of time to hand applique. I've learned how several times and understood the theory but never felt comfortable so hadn't done too much. I was thrilled to come home loving applique! Here's my progess so far on Stars & Sprigs - it's a quilt pattern from Australian designer Kim McLean. I'm throwing all kinds of fabric in it and using a background fabric that looks like overdyed linen!
You can see the whole quilt pattern here. I'm a little apprehensive about the borders - they're massive! I'm hoping by the time I get to them I'll have more confidence.

In case you're worried I'm giving up stitching, DON'T! Lots of ideas brewing and I have just submitted two classes to ANG for their next Education Directory. I'm also working on a piece with bright Watercolours and half a dozen of the Kreinik holographic metallics - I love them. Here's a small sneak peek - it's almost done but I'm not sure when I'll be releasing it. Sorry the pic is a little out of focus - it's angled.

My online class through Shining Needle Society starts in ten days - registration is closed but I do have a couple of extra kits in several of the colorways if anyone is still interested. I'm really looking forward to the class - it should be fun! Here are the details for Sherwood Garden.

I'm off to the sewing room to prep some applique blocks...

Autumn Logs pillow

Just a quick post to show my finished Autumn Logs made into a pillow. The center looks washed out in the photo but I can't take another because I sent the pillow up to Fireside Stitchery - they're having a Needle Delights Originals trunk show right now and have over a dozen of my pieces - check them out if you're in the northeast! http://www.firesidestitchery.com/     Today is the first day of my online class "Inchies" - here's the Confetti colorway - one of my students already finished it and sent a photo!     I'm working on something new and will show you a peek soon! Kathy

More Serenity and something new...

I'm so pleased to show you photos of some of my students' work! They've had such fun stitching Serenity and several have completed it. It's such fun to see the different colorways come to life! First up is Pam B's - it's called "Flowers of Italy". She was clever and added her initials to the piece - can you find them?!   Next is Highland Garden - it was one of the most popular colorways!   And here's Arnhem Heath, the ever popular purple and green!  I'll be teaching this project at Needle in a Haystack in Alameda, CA next month - if you're wanting some Serenity, come join us. You can see all the info here. Kathy

In full swing...

I've been getting ready for my big summer trip - I'm heading to the midwest next month. First I'll be attending the TNNA Needlework tradeshow in St Charles, Missouri and then am heading to Chicago for the ANG National Seminar. I'm taking a class with Orna Willis and looking forward to being with someone who has great color sense! I'll also be participating at Expo Night. I'm looking for a couple of people who have experience in such events who would be willing to help me - contact me privately if you are interested.  Before I go to Seminar, I'll be teaching August 22-23 at Tomorrow's Heirlooms. You can get more details on their Facebook page here . I'm really having fun working on the piece and wish I could show you part of it but alas, it's a Mystery! I haven't done a Mystery class for the last two years and I'm happy to be designing another - I look forward to being able to share it and eventually publish it. I will be releasing six
