New Watercolours!!!

Chart Alert: A couple of charting errors have been discovered in Summer Logs. Click SummerLogCorrections to download them.

I squealed with joy when I got the mail today and discovered a package from Caron Collection with a set of the new Watercolours. There are EIGHTEEN different colors! If you're familiar at all with my work, you know I'm greatly inspired and influenced by Caron's Watercolours. I love overdyed threads and just love putting them all together (see the bottom of this post for a sneak peek of my next "Logs"). Here are pictures of the new colors...call your LNS to get yours! I'll be breaking one open tonight to add it to my current design in progress!

Of couse, I've already played some with them and arranged them into "categories", "future design inspiration", "winter", etc. Here are a few of them. My design juices are not just flowing; they're churning!!

These are what I call "Multi Colors" - they are a great starting point for a lot of counted needlepoint patterns. From left to right, the names are Black Iris, Stained Glass, Trail Mix, Cypress, Calypso, and Parrot (can you say "Margaritaville"?!).

I can see all of these going into the future Winter Logs...Linen, Dense Fog, Belgian Stone, & Mt Everest.

Here is the beginning of my Spring Logs design. I'm having a great time working on it - it's light, airy, and springy! I'm feeling more in the mood for fall colors with the changes in temperature but am wanting to get this done so a second one can be stitched for market. I'll be donating one to be raffled off to a shopowner at the Nashville market. You may have figured out I'm going to do Logs for all four seasons. The layout of each will be different - I get bored doing the same thing and want these to all be "stand-alone" designs.

2020 Mystery

It's official - registration is open for my 2020 Mystery - Banded by Bargello! You can get all the details here . I used Planet Earth silks and Pepper Pot for the first time in this project. The silk is a bit thick for 18ct which made it perfect for bargello with excellent coverage. I loved the Pepper Pot so expect to see it in future projects. I also used overdyed threads from ThreadworX - pearl cotton, floss, Vineyard Silk, and metallic braid. Here's a photo of the threads I used and a couple of snippets of my stitched piece. Using all the ThreadworX was like reconnecting with an old friend - I used quite a variety! I had a great time choosing the alternate colorways - I was in one of my favorite shops, Elegant Stitch , surrounded by walls and drawers of threads. Of course, while I was there, I chose threads for a few future projects! Here are photos of the four alternate colorways - I may have to use one of them for a new design! Earthtones is based on R...

More Serenity and something new...

I'm so pleased to show you photos of some of my students' work! They've had such fun stitching Serenity and several have completed it. It's such fun to see the different colorways come to life! First up is Pam B's - it's called "Flowers of Italy". She was clever and added her initials to the piece - can you find them?!   Next is Highland Garden - it was one of the most popular colorways!   And here's Arnhem Heath, the ever popular purple and green!  I'll be teaching this project at Needle in a Haystack in Alameda, CA next month - if you're wanting some Serenity, come join us. You can see all the info here. Kathy

New Color Delights

Along with Boo Logs, I will be releasing a new Color Delights .  I used Kelp Watercolours and Waterlilies both so am calling this one Kelp. The photo is a little crooked as part of the border got cut off when I edited it... This is the 45th in the Color Delights series. I never dreamed when this series started that I would do this many! Believe it or not, in the beginning it was a monthly club for one year. After a year though, there were still so many colors I wanted to do, it continued. I still really enjoy doing these small pieces and always have one going with me when I travel - they're a perfect little size to tuck in my carry-on!    I've never done a give-away on my blog so this will be the first! Leave a comment with a color suggestion for a future Color Delights and I'll choose a winner (by random number generator) after the weekend on Monday. The winner will get a new Color Delights - Kelp pattern.   Good Luck! Kathy
