Back from market...

Okay, I've been home a week but the days have been flying by. I've fortuately been making a daily trek (it's only 4 miles) to the post office every afternoon with piles of packages and then working some more when I come home. I can't seem to catch up with all the orders - distributors, shops, and also still liquidating the inventory from the shop on my website http://www.needledelights.com/ I'll be adding more than just patterns as soon as I'm caught up with all the current mail.

Nashville was totally awesome. Everyone there seeemed to be in such a great mood and happiness pervaded the air in my room, for sure. [I love blogging because I can write like I talk and not necessarily grammatically correct]. This was my first market being only an exhibitor and not a buyer for a shop so it was incredibly wonderfully relaxing for me. I did still get to run around and see my designer friends and all their new goodies but not have to stress about what to buy and how much. There was lots of great stuff though and I did pick up a book from one of my favorites!

My new titles were well received so you should be seeing them in your local shops. If you don't, let them know you want them. If you're in the unfortunate group of people who don't have a local shop (like me now...), I'm happy to send you what you want.

My camera went to market but as is typical, I didn't take any photos. Fortunately, mom did though! She never goes anywhere without her camera and is always using it. At market our rooms are set up in our suite at an Embassy Suites hotel and all the shopowners run from room to room to see everything. Here are a few shots of my setups...first up are my new titles - this is what everybody wants to see first!

From left to right, the framed pieces are Rio, Brilliant Color, and Sugilite. The smaller unframed pieces are the first three Double Delights designs. I released the one on the right (Turple) and the next two are just a sneak peek at what's coming in the next few months. I actually finished the one in the middle while I was there. One of  the shopowners asked if I'd design a border to stitch 12 Double Delights patterns together on the same canvas so that's on my list now...I'm going to coordinate the Alternate colorways to all go together in one fabulous (I think it'll be fab!) piece.

These are a few of my "bestsellers" - they're propped on a table because we're not allowed to hang anything on the walls - some places we go to, we can take frames off the wall and replace the pictures with our own but at this Embassy, the pictures were screwed to the wall! Across the back from left to right is Amazing Color, Oh My Stars, Galaxy, and Tuscan Midnight. The bottom row is Sierra, Lavender Fields, and Tangerine Twist.

Since I released a Color Delights every month for about three years, I didn't frame them but rather just put a mat on them. A few of them are lined up along the back of the couch and they looked good. When I first put them up, I lined them up in color order like the rainbow but they aren't this way in the photo! They got picked up and moved around a lot. It's fun to see how 3 or 4 go together in a grouping. My friend Dottie was nice enough to loan me her pillows of Amazing Color and Burst of Stars. We put my framed Burst of Stars in the middle of the couch and it's interesting to see what a difference the two colorways are and how different a piece looks depending on whether it's framed or made into a pillow.

This couch was in a quilt shop my mom stopped at on her way home - it's covered with Kaffe Fasset fabric which I adore. I don't know that I'd want this couch in my house (unless I had room for it in my funky sewing room!) but I'd sure like to have it for display purposes when exhibiting!

Autumn Logs pillow

Just a quick post to show my finished Autumn Logs made into a pillow. The center looks washed out in the photo but I can't take another because I sent the pillow up to Fireside Stitchery - they're having a Needle Delights Originals trunk show right now and have over a dozen of my pieces - check them out if you're in the northeast! http://www.firesidestitchery.com/     Today is the first day of my online class "Inchies" - here's the Confetti colorway - one of my students already finished it and sent a photo!     I'm working on something new and will show you a peek soon! More Serenity and something new...

I'm so pleased to show you photos of some of my students' work! They've had such fun stitching Serenity and several have completed it. It's such fun to see the different colorways come to life! First up is Pam B's - it's called "Flowers of Italy". She was clever and added her initials to the piece - can you find them?!   Next is Highland Garden - it was one of the most popular colorways!   And here's Arnhem Heath, the ever popular purple and green!  I'll be teaching this project at Needle in a Haystack in Alameda, CA next month - if you're wanting some Serenity, come join us. You can see all the info here. Kathy

In full swing...

I've been getting ready for my big summer trip - I'm heading to the midwest next month. First I'll be attending the TNNA Needlework tradeshow in St Charles, Missouri and then am heading to Chicago for the ANG National Seminar. I'm taking a class with Orna Willis and looking forward to being with someone who has great color sense! I'll also be participating at Expo Night. I'm looking for a couple of people who have experience in such events who would be willing to help me - contact me privately if you are interested.  Before I go to Seminar, I'll be teaching August 22-23 at Tomorrow's Heirlooms. You can get more details on their Facebook page here . I'm really having fun working on the piece and wish I could show you part of it but alas, it's a Mystery! I haven't done a Mystery class for the last two years and I'm happy to be designing another - I look forward to being able to share it and eventually publish it. I will be releasing six
