Back from Baltimore...

I'm back from the Needlework Trade Show in Baltimore, Maryland. I exhibited my designs and had a fabulous time. My mom came and helped me in my "booth" and I'm always happy to spend time with her. The photo above shows my first Baltimore crabcake - it was so yummy I had another crabcake dinner Sunday night.

It's so much fun to meet shopowners who purchase my designs and share stories with me of what has been done with some of my designs. I asked several people to send pictures and I'll be sure to share them with you if/when they come! If you're anywhere close to Baltimore, go visit The Stitching Post . I let Melinda take a bunch of my models home to display in her shop for a few weeks.

Here's a couple of photos of what my "booth" looked like - the market is held in an Embassy Suites hotel and we use the front part of the room for our displays and sleep in the back.

And here's a photo of me with my newest designs - I hate having my picture taken but my mom was with me and she made me (sound familiar to anyone?!)

Here are the new designs I released this past weekend. First up is Funky Hearts -

This is called "Lollipops" - I'm happy to say it sold out! The colors in this photo appear a little washed out - it's actually a bit brighter.

This is the latest Color Delights - it's called Plum.

I previewed the next two in the Color Delights series - Silver & Midnight. I wish you could see how "shimmery" the Silver is - this is one of my favorites in the Color Delights series. Silver will be released Sept 1st.
Midnight will be released Oct 1st.

I spent today "catching up" at home and am looking forward to opening my shop in the morning! I love being busy!

Delightfully,
Kathy

  1. I'm so luck to have seen the models in person-they are stunning, of course! I'm so glad you had a great show.

I keep dreaming about those awesome crabcakes. Certainly nothing here in the Midwest will compare!

It was great seeing you again, Kathy!

  3. This the first time I've recieved your blog. The next thing I'm going to do is place a link to it on my own two stitching blogs! I had the fortune of seeing a number of your designs completed when I visited Expressions in Needlearts in Canandaigua a couple weeks ago. Lori was featuring your work as well as two other designers while there were townwide raffles and such going on.

I am currently working on Amazing Color and LOVE it. It could be offered as a special project for EGA or ANG as a color study project! It reminds me of a painting exercise I had to do in an Intro to Oil painting class, a wonderful experience and lesson.

Next time your mother insists on a photo be sure to include one of her so I can make sure she's not moonlighting as my mom!

Good luck with your new designs!

More Serenity and something new...

I'm so pleased to show you photos of some of my students' work! They've had such fun stitching Serenity and several have completed it. It's such fun to see the different colorways come to life! First up is Pam B's - it's called "Flowers of Italy". She was clever and added her initials to the piece - can you find them?! Next is Highland Garden - it was one of the most popular colorways! And here's Arnhem Heath, the ever popular purple and green!

I'll be teaching this project at Needle in a Haystack in Alameda, CA next month - if you're wanting some Serenity, come join us. You can see all the info here.

New Releases for Nashville Market

February is one of the craziest months as the Nashville wholesale market is the first weekend in March. For the first time ever, I had completed stitching all of my designs by the end of December and managed to eke out a new Holiday Delights in January! I felt great being ahead of the game but after finishing the stitching, there's the instruction writing, printing, stuffing thousands of patterns into plastic bags (I do have help, thank goodness!), communicating with my shops and distributor, packing the models and patterns to travel to market, and more boring but oh so necessary administrative details.
Did I say I love this time off year?! I really do as I look forward to market like a fabulous dessert - I get to see all my shopowner friends and other designers. We all generally work our fingers to the bone while having a fabulous time with some belly laughs and the promise of delightful sales.
At this point, you're thinking, enough, show us the new designs - here they are! Yo…
