Playing with Color

I've been working hard so I took some time to play today and here is the result. I've been wanting to combine some of the Color Delights with Rainbow in the center and blending into the squares around it. Here's the result...
This is a combo of nine Color Delights designs (I counted and I have 31 in the collection now!). Rainbow is in the center and going around clockwise, starting with the top left, is Sunshine, Tangerine, Magenta, Bubblegum, Purple, Indigo, Aqua, and Chartreuse. Stitched this way, the overall design would be 12x12. After this exercise, I realize I need to add some blue designs to the collection! That said, Lavender is the next release and here's a photo (the pattern is at the printer and will be here soon!)

I'm exhibiting in the online show - it starts tomorrow. I'm releasing Lavender and the next Double Delights. It's called Nolive - can you guess what two colors it combines?

Comments

  1. Oh my, such a colourful and beautiful combination! I love the motive in the middle!
Nolive could be Navy (or Noir?) and olive :)

    Hugs,

  2. Hi! I discovered your amazing designs while looking for Genny Morrow and Susan Portra. Are your charts available in the UK? Or are they available for download as a PDF?
    Thanks!

2020 Mystery

It's official - registration is open for my 2020 Mystery - Banded by Bargello! You can get all the details here . I used Planet Earth silks and Pepper Pot for the first time in this project. The silk is a bit thick for 18ct which made it perfect for bargello with excellent coverage. I loved the Pepper Pot so expect to see it in future projects. I also used overdyed threads from ThreadworX - pearl cotton, floss, Vineyard Silk, and metallic braid. Here's a photo of the threads I used and a couple of snippets of my stitched piece. Using all the ThreadworX was like reconnecting with an old friend - I used quite a variety! I had a great time choosing the alternate colorways - I was in one of my favorite shops, Elegant Stitch , surrounded by walls and drawers of threads. Of course, while I was there, I chose threads for a few future projects! Here are photos of the four alternate colorways - I may have to use one of them for a new design! Earthtones is based on R...

More Serenity and something new...

I'm so pleased to show you photos of some of my students' work! They've had such fun stitching Serenity and several have completed it. It's such fun to see the different colorways come to life! First up is Pam B's - it's called "Flowers of Italy". She was clever and added her initials to the piece - can you find them?!   Next is Highland Garden - it was one of the most popular colorways!   And here's Arnhem Heath, the ever popular purple and green!  I'll be teaching this project at Needle in a Haystack in Alameda, CA next month - if you're wanting some Serenity, come join us. You can see all the info here. Kathy

New Color Delights

Along with Boo Logs, I will be releasing a new Color Delights .  I used Kelp Watercolours and Waterlilies both so am calling this one Kelp. The photo is a little crooked as part of the border got cut off when I edited it... This is the 45th in the Color Delights series. I never dreamed when this series started that I would do this many! Believe it or not, in the beginning it was a monthly club for one year. After a year though, there were still so many colors I wanted to do, it continued. I still really enjoy doing these small pieces and always have one going with me when I travel - they're a perfect little size to tuck in my carry-on!    I've never done a give-away on my blog so this will be the first! Leave a comment with a color suggestion for a future Color Delights and I'll choose a winner (by random number generator) after the weekend on Monday. The winner will get a new Color Delights - Kelp pattern.   Good Luck! Kathy
